I have been doing some more reading about churches in the United States. Because of my current reading I woke up early this morning thinking about the organization of the church. The Church of Jesus Christ has become more an organization than followers of Christ on a mission. The mission seems to overshadowed by the personal preferences of those who claim to be disciples of Jesus. It would seem at times that more energy is put into keeping the organization going than in truly be a light in a dark world. It seems that committee work has taken the place of the Great Commission to make disciples. Even more alarming is the trend toward wanting to ’work in the church’ and miss the many opportunities to do God’s work that is all around in our world. If you read these words I ask you to do two things. First pray. I certainly need those prayers because I don’t want my personal preferences to be the guiding principle of this church. Secondly pray for yourself. Ask God to give you a heart to reach out to those who need your touch of love. Thirdly, pray for all churches. The Church of Jesus Christ can bring transformation to our needy world. Pray that the Church of Jesus Christ will truly be the Church. Fourthly, pray for our nation. We are going to have a new President and he along with his leadership team will need all of our prayers. Also pray that our nation will see again that the only Savior of the world is Jesus. Well, I have vented and now I feel somewhat better. Thanks for reading this and most of all for your prayers.
