tired

Today I am feeling what happens when you do a lot of physical activity.  I have spent this past weekend biking and hiking and today I feel it all.  So, I am sitting at my desk feeling tired.  In fact my body aches.  But as my body knows it has been act my mind is refreshed.  I am more alert mentally.  But what is even greater is that I feel like my spiritual life is also enriched.  Biking allowed me to enjoy God’s creation and see the world in a different way than I normally see it.  For me there is something about being in nature that puts me more in touch with God.  I often have my best prayer times alone walk or jogging.

As you can see I am a fan of physical activity.  It is a wonderful way to find all sources of refreshment.  Get out there today and find ways to experience renewal in all areas of your life.  I am thinking I may play a game of racketball.  Enjoy a life that keeps moving and stay active in many ways.

Oklahoma

I
woke up this morning and got ready to do my daily workout. Coming
back I got ready for the day. The shower was refreshing and then I
walk to my office and began my day. This routine is very familiar
and feels very comfortable to me. As I was walking to my office my
mind started to think about those many in Oklahoma whose routines are
not only broken up but crushed. I cannot imagine how it must feel to
not have a home or worse to not know if a loved one has survived.
Getting to my office my heart was truly heavy.

I
will be honest and confess that are times I wonder about the United
Methodist Church and I also wonder about my part as a pastor in it.
But today I am thankful for the Church and it commitment to help
others. I know that as I write these words that the United Methodist
Church has sent trained professional in to see what can be done and I
also know that many United Methodist members have reached into their
pockets and made donations to get the help flowing in on those needy
persons.

So,
today join with me in prayers that God will lead us to reach out to
those in need wherever they are located. But today especially with
those suffering in Oklahoma.

vacation

Last
week I went on a vacation. Part of the vacation I stayed home and
biked around the area. It was a great time. Then I went to Chicago
to see my daughter in law and grandson. Once again I enjoyed myself.
I am writing these words on the last night of my vacation and I know
that tomorrow I must go back to the routines of my life.

I
find that my life needs both routines and times to get away. I am
thankful that I am able to enjoy both. I guess I am a believer one’s
life should be balanced. It is so easy to get off center and when
that happens life itself can get blurry and confused. More than once
I have had to step back and take a look at my life and see where it
needed to be balanced. For me proper rest, proper sleep, proper
work, proper play, etc all need to be balanced. If I am not careful
one can take my entire thoughts and energies and my life can get out
of control. So, today I am thankful to be going back to the routines
knowing that the time will come again when I need to get away from
them.
