This past week my spouse, Phyllis, has been gone to Bloomington, Indiana to work with others who are on a mission trip to that city.  She is doing the cooking for the workers who are showing the love of God in very real ways.  I am sure that when she returns home she will have stories to tell.  She will not be alone in the story telling.  I will share some of my week’s happenings, too.

One of the great advantages to be married is the ability to share with each other.  I find that those times of sharing very helpful and quite comforting.  It is a good feeling to know someone shares a common history.

I find this line of thinking one of the greatest joys of prayer.  The older I get one of the great joys of prayer is sharing with someone who knows my history and has been a part of my life since its beginning.  The more I walk with God the more I just feel like sharing.

I am looking forward to Phyllis returning home I miss being able to daily speak with her.  Today as I reflect on my life I am grateful God is always there to be in dialogue with me.

I was thinking about your comment, “It is a good feeling to know someone shares a common history.” For some reason this made me think of a reflection I had once Tim and I were married 21 years (its almost 24 currently) a thought went through my head and it dawned on me (I know its the blond in me)- but the thought dawned on me that I’d been married to my husband and lived with my husband longer than I even lived with my parents or sisters and brothers. I actually “know” him better than I do my siblings. Because we moved all over with the military, I dont live very near any of my family and only see them every few years. This June should be fun. All of my brothers and my sister and other close relatives will gather in Phoenix Arizona to witness my 13 year old nephew become a Bar Mitzvah. Yes, thats right - he becomes it - my sister (converted to Judaism) told me most people think you just attend a Bar Mitzvah - but actually the young man “becomes” because it means “one to whom the commandments apply”. I think it will be very interesting and I am looking forward to it very much - plus I get to see family from all over. Thanks for letting me reflect and share.
